Evaluation of Front & Contents college magazine.

PROCESS:

To begin with, doing my front and content college magazine I used Adobe Photoshop. I was post to do my contents page on Indesign because a content page is inside a magazine which is a double page and Indesign is more for double pages, but I found it more easier to do it on Photoshop and because I've used it before in my secondary school. But next time when doing my music magazine i would know to make my content page on Indesign. The images i used are taken from my phone i had problems trying to find who should be my models and found anyone and done it last minute, but it ended up turning out good so it wasn't a problem. Making the front and content was easy because i had a template to follow, so i wasn't struggling in this process.

SELF EVALUATION:

I think i have done well and did what my template had, which shows i followed though what i imagined from the beginning. I like my contents page more because of the uniqueness and the different ideas i got from other college magazines, VIBE and XXL clashing together in one. But the clouds around the model was originally my idea that's what makes me like my content page more. To improve i think i should have stick to one font on the front and content page.

PEER EVALUATION:

People in my class looked at my magazine and left comments underneath. I read through all of them and most of them said they liked how unique and eye-catching my content page was than my front cover because of the clouds on top of the model. They also said they liked how i used a natural background of the books and the college street, which shows where the students are in the college. The things they said i could improve on is if i 'used the same colour in the contents page as the font cover', my 'content page could of made the LSC logo more bigger and not add too much text', 'Should have taken your font cover image somewhere else as the sun ruins the image' and 'Should have made the font size bigger on the cover so it is easier to read'. Reading these comments made me realise more stuff i need to improve, which i will do in my next magazine.

The 3 points i would give myself for improvements is making the content and front cover of my magazine have the same colour scheme because it doesn't look like their from the same magazine. second one is that i could of used brighter colours to make them stand out and eye-catching. And lastly, be careful in where I do my photography because the sunlight was too much on the models face for my front cover.

  1. Abigail - your college magazine shows some really good skills developing, well done! You show a good understanding of convention. Your evaluation could be more detailed in exactly what you did with photoshop and indesign. Also proof reading would help.
